microneedling

SkinPen by Bellus Medical is the first FDA-cleared microneedling device.

It causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. The result is effective remodeling of scar tissue, while keeping the overall structure of the skin intact.1

There are three phases to the wound-repair process:

  • Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to disinfect the wounds, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.

  • Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.

  • Phase III: Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

Best of all, SkinPen works. Ninety percent of subjects in the clinical trial would recommend the procedure to family and friends[1] Data on file. Bellus Medical. 2017.

1. Microneedling with SkinFuse LiftSkinfuse® LIFT HG, a proprietary formula which serves to assist in the wound healing process. LIFT HG is one of the products in the patient’s take-home kit, so they can continue to re-apply it as necessary over the next 24 hours

2. Microneedling with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)-During this process, The patients blood is drawn and spun down in a process to draw off PRP. The PRP which is rich in growth factors, and will stimulate collagen and elastin, is applied to the face while microneedling. This is a valuable adjunct to the treatment that can improve results.

What should I expect after my treatment?

Immediately after your treatment you will be red and your skin will feel tight. We recommend not applying anything to your face except for the products that we supply durning the  first 24 hours. After about 24 hours, makeup and sunscreen can be applied. Expect over the next couple of days for the redness to lessen and the skin can begin to peel or flake. Benefits from microneedling will continue over the next weeks to months.
