THREE R's OF SKINCARE SUCCESS

When starting your medical-grade skincare journey, it can be a bit intimidating, so we want to make the process as transparent as possible. The best way to explain the process is to (obviously) make an abbreviation that sticks in your mind: RRR or Regimen, Routine, Ritual. When you check off all of the R's you should be on your way to your best skincare results!

Let's start out with the first R: REGIMEN

This part of the skincare journey can be the most intimidating and scary for both people who are completely new to medical-grade skincare AND skincare veterans. The process of choosing a med spa, a provider, what products they carry and the cost of said products and product lines are all very important points to keep in mind.

Let's start with choosing a spa and provider. When doing research to find where to start your journey, finding a reputable spa with reputable providers, tends to be the most important part. When looking for a provider, education and hands-on experience are going to be the main things you want to look for. Look into the education and work experience of said provider, and always ask questions about what products and trainings they have under their belts, as well as how long they have been working with the specific brands they will be reccomending. A good provider should bring you in for a skin analysis. Here at Prestige, we use the VISIA Skin Analysis, as well as identifying your skin type on the Fitzpatrick scale. This will show us every layer of skin, from surface to bone, as well as what products will be most effective based on those results and your skin type. Our highly-trained and experienced providers will put together the best product regimen, that fits into your lifestyle, for optimum results.

Always have an experienced provider put together a skincare REGIMEN, specific to your own skin! Medical-grade skincare is NOT one-size-fits all.

On to the second R: ROUTINE

This is where we take the niche parts of your lifestyle and figure out which products and regimen are going to work the best for you, specifically. Your provider should go over your daily routine, what products you have been using, your occupation, where your most frequented environments are, as well as diet, sleep, medication, long and short-term as well as hormonal issues. For example, if you are someone that works outside, with more sun exposure, your regimen would probably have less photsensitive products, comparative to someone who works night shift, in a factory, where there will not be much sun exposure. If you are on a medication that could make for hightened histemine reactions, we may target that redness in a different way than someone with a natural redness. Your provider should write up your regimen, with times and how often each product needs used. It is imperative to follow these directions. Think of this as a recipe that you are being given all of the ingredients to, all you have to do is follow the directions, for the outcome you would want.

Work your regimen into your daily ROUTINE. Everyone’s lifestyle looks different, so it’s important to figure out how your products work into your daily schedule and lifestyle, specifically.

Now for the third R: RITUAL

The hardest part: making your skincare regimen and routine, a RITUAL. This is actually the hardest part for both the provider and client. Medical-grade skincare is the basis of any and every esthetic procedure, for the maximum benefit of the client. It is also the ONLY esthetic “procedure” where the mechanics are the client’s responsibility, at home. The client has to do their part and make their regimen a ritual, and the provider has to trust that the client follows the directed regimen and routine. Think of all of the things that need done everyday to keep your life in balance: checking your email, grabbing a coffee, watching your favorite show at the end of the day, etc. Your skincare routine is no different! When you are not using products as directed, or consistently, you will not have the outcome expected by your provider.

Commit to your regimen and routine as a RITUAL. Make sure that it becomes a part of your day as something that cannot, not be done. We promise, there is a method to our sincare madness!

We hope that the process of starting medical-grade skincare is a little less intimidating, now that you;ve heard the ins and outs! Book your VISIA to get on your way to your best skin!
